Planning Your Post-Pandemic Trip

Planning your Post Pandemic Trip

If you are itching to start planning your next trip post-pandemic you are not alone. The phrase “when can I travel” has seen a spike in Google searches since the first week of May.

So how should you go about planning your post-pandemic adventure? Where to go? What to do? How to go about it all?

The key things for this first trip post quarantine is to keep it Local, Outdoors, and Flexible – LOF… I wish I had a better acronym for it but oh well, this is what we’ve got.

Stay Local

Planning your Post Pandemic Trip
  • Staying close to home is going to be your safest option, depending on your state’s rules this might mean anything from day trips around your city to a weekend or week-long getaways within your state.
  • By staying closer to home and driving to your destination you will decrease your chances of contracting and spreading the virus. The closer you stay to home means fewer stops and less contact with others creating a lower risk for everyone.
  • I bet you haven’t explored all there is in your area, so this is a great opportunity to do so. Check out a cute town or campground you’ve never been to, someplace you maybe have skipped over in favor of more exotic or further away destinations.
  • Places that you can drive to in a day and bring all your own supplies means you will have less contact with others keeping you safe and locals safe.

Enjoy the Outdoors

  • Outdoor activities afford more space to social distance.
  • Camping, hiking, and backpacking are great ways to enjoy nature and get out of the house.
  • By camping in dispersed or in primitive campsites (without any amenities like bathrooms) there is less opportunity for contact with other people or public facilities.
  • Camping trips also require you to be self-sufficient, you’ bring all your own food, water, and supplies, which again will minimize contact with others.
  • Nature is healing, sunlight is good for you, and camping somewhere with no reception will cut you off from the constant stream of news for a little bit.

Be Flexible

Planning your Post Pandemic Trip
  • Things are constantly changing, the situation in your area could get better or worse at any time, so be prepared to change plans if needed.
  • Have a back up plan in case the situation does change. Have a couple different destination options just in case your first choice is compromised in some way.

Safety Precautions

When you do decide to take your first little trip make sure to follow all safety guidelines outlined by the CDC. Continue to follow social distancing protocols, wash your hands as often as possible, and don’t touch your face.

Remember to bring:

Lastly, please follow all the rules, laws, and guidelines set forth by your state and county, no trip is worth getting sick or endangering others.
